Council President Report

March is here with Ash Wednesday beginning our Lent season. I try to give up something for Lent every year. I pick meat or fast food or chocolate. This year I’m going to give up "worry" and see if I can do it. I am a big "worrywart" I guess it is called. Being a Mom of three kids gives me plenty to worry about. Blessing, my oldest, is graduating and becoming an adult in society. Brooklyn, a freshman, is taking Honors classes. Bowie is a 5th grader who is quickly becoming a tweenager. All of these situations cause my Mom brain to worry. My husband, who compliments me, is not a "worrywart". He always tells me  "Honey it will all work out". I am a Pre-school teacher; I worry about my students and if they are understanding our lessons and themes. I worry about our church and its members. I worry about my husband and his chronic illnesses. I worry about Covid and all of its stuff. I’m replacing this worry with prayer and giving up worry for Lent. Having a God that loves us makes this so possible for us. It’s funny because every time I haven’t worried about something it actually worked out perfectly.

"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

For Lent I will make an effort to cast all of these worries unto God and reflect on them in prayer. We will be having Lent Midweek dinners. March 23rd will be by the Youth. We will be having the kids serve it. The Youth are doing great fundraising. Thank you so much to the Congregation for supporting them. They are half way towards their goal.

We are still looking for a Financial Secretary and President Elect. If you find it in your heart to be of service in one of these positions let one of us know. I look forward to Lent and to Midweek services. I hope to see you there or at Church where we get to cast all of our worries and troubles and doubts to the Lord. Such a great feeling!
