Mark 12:28-37
BAPTISM AND SELF ESTEEM

In today’s reading, Jesus gives us a plan to live our lives in peace, joy, love, contentment, and happiness. He tells us that the greatest commandments, the thing that is of utmost importance for living our lives in the kingdom of God is to love God with all our hearts, minds, and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves.

What a different world we would have if we were always able to do that! First of all, we need to know that God loves us and has brought us into His kingdom through the waters of our baptisms and the hearing of His Word.

Once we know we are loved and have royal status as a child of God, we are much more able to love others. Life is not a competition. Life is meant for living in relation with God and those who God loves. That includes us and everyone else.

Join me as we apply this simple teaching in our lives. The kingdom of God is not something we enter. The Kingdom of God enters us! What a difference that makes when we fully grasp what it means to be a child of God!
