Jesus said that a person cannot serve two masters. We can not serve God and money. Today's parable looks at the cause and effect of that statement. Do we claim God as our Father and serve Him. Or do we allow ourselves to ignore those less fortunate than us and serve money? Who’s your Daddy?
The parable of the rich man and Lazarus tells us that Lazarus was very poor and very sick and very helpless. It is interesting to note that the name Lazarus means God helps. The rich man failed to help Lazarus even though Lazarus was at his doorway. They both died. Death is a great equalizer. Lazarus went to Heaven and the rich man went to hell.
We know from God’s Word that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and remain lost for refusing to believe. So what’s going on in this parable? What’s really going on?
